How will you make your business a success through online platforms? Firstly, you must have your own website and a Social media page. In order to reach your business’ optimum potential, your business must have a strong digital presence. With that in mind, you must learn how to utilize the BOTH of them.

You must be asking, ‘why do I need both?’.  I know your business can probably function with a single platform alone, but there are downsides with using just one. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to each one but that does not mean you should opt to use one over the other. In fact, you should learn to use, let’s say, Facebook and *owning* a website together.

Now, first, let’s start dissecting the both of them individually.

Setting up your own website is like building your company’s identity and putting it all online. You can include all the information about your business on your website. You can also include all sorts of features that cannot be included in a social media page. This means that the customization in a website is almost limitless. This is one of the main reasons why you should HAVE your own website for your business. While it can be intimidating, especially the building and maintenance costs of having a website, I assure you that it is essential for a business (it will be worth it, trust me!).

On the other hand, managing a Facebook fan page is also a great way to expand your business in terms of gaining a larger following. Since most people use this social networking giant, your business can reach a wider demographic of customers. Also, aside from it’s free, the communication between your customers and clients is relatively easier here. As for analyzing feedbacks, there is an ‘Insights’ feature on Facebook where it can track and analyze your page’s activities. However, there are built-in limitations. But this doesn’t mean that you should refrain from using it. In fact, it’s a great advantage to have a fan page for your business.

Now, we now know that both have their ups and downs. So, is it more wise to use one over the other? Again, the answer is no. The truth is, they actually complement each other. How?

Managing a cost efficient FB fan page, and owning a reliable website works hand in hand for your business. It actually further builds the company’s branding. A Facebook fan page is like a teaser for your actual website. First, you must customize your fan page based on your website. You can change the cover and profile picture, insert a short introduction, and then, leave a link on your content. By setting up a link on your fan page, you can direct your followers to your website. With this simple strategy, you can increase your web traffic hence, web ranking. By owning both, you can be more reachable to your customers–both on Google and Facebook.

Your business can also offer more options to your customers if you have both. You can post and advertise all your products on your fan page. Then, you can directly lead your customers to your actual website where they can use the multiple features on your site that aren’t available on the fan page.

Moreover, both Facebook and a Website can strengthen the following of your business. While you can have followers on Facebook, they do not guarantee that your customers are frequent visitors of your fan page. In short, you’ll never really know if your business is doing well. However, if you have a ‘customer accounts’ feature on your website, you can actually know the ‘loyal’ members of your brand. You can build a tangible community around your website.

On the other hand, Facebook can greatly help in communicating with your customers and clients! Facebook’s instant messaging can help you quickly reach your customers if they have concerns and feedback. So, you can actually use them both so that you can efficiently connect with your customers.

So, as a recap, owning both is essential in building a strong digital presence. A website IN ADDITION TO having a Facebook fan page is the key to getting ahead of your competitors. With this strategy, I can guarantee that your business is on its way to success. You just need to have a LOT of courage and determination. It may be daunting at first, but risks are a step to your success. Don’t know where to start? We can help you with that.
