Our Future with Google

Our Future with Google

In the last Google I/O Keynote 2017 in May, Google CEO Sundar Pichai tells all about the future of the ‘most valuable company in the world’. He gave us an insight on the company’s roadmap, and its ambitions for the future. Just recently, Google ranked as the number one share-holder in the web search industry–80% of the market share belongs to Google. With a whopping worth of $520 billion, Google now holds the top dog position of the digital world.

But how did Google rose to power? It all started in 1995 with two PhD Stanford students who were making a thesis dissertation on the world wide web. Upon their research, they predicted a single problem: the web will have an overload of information without an organizing system. As a solution, they devised a tool to ‘tame the mass of material’ that was constantly being uploaded on the web. This simple yet insightful solution became one of the most pivotal technological advancement of our generation.
Throughout the years, Google has continued to hone their search engine until they were able to come up with a unique algorithm that would dominate the web. But they did not stop there, they embraced all the digital technology industry has to offer. Now, thanks to Google, we now have Android, Gsuite, and many more! (fun fact: i4Asia is one of the handful companies in the country that partnered with Google. We’re also an official and authorized reseller of Gsuite!)

At their recent conference, Pichai revealed that there are now more than 2 billion *and counting* active Android users in the planet. This includes all our Android-based devices—TVs, smartphones, tablets, and etc. In addition to the Android advancements, Google is now claiming that their goal in the following years is too reach another billion users through their Android Go.

Google also tells us that it is developing new apps that will transcend into virtual reality. The Google Daydream headset, Google Assistant, Google Clips, and Google Photos, are just a few of the Google products that we have to watch out for. Remember those scenes from Back to the Future films? It seems that a *utopian* society in the near future is not as impossible as we think it is.

It also seemed that the company is now greatly investing in Artificial Intelligence. According to Pichai, AI is the ‘next big thing’ in the coming years. They have plans to integrate AI into ALL of their products. It may seem ambitious, but Pichai assures us that they will continue to strive for advancements in Artificial Intelligence.

The Google CEO also assures us that they will continue to improve their Google Search Engine–the one thing that started it all. The company understands that the digital world is fluid and constantly evolving, that’s why they took the initiative to fully utilize AI into their brand. Through their venture to AI, they will be developing new learning techniques and web algorithms to improve the ‘thinking mind’ of the Google search engine. In line with this, Google aims to stay ahead of its competitors. There are looming companies that threaten Google, but the search engine giant promises that they will remain at the top for a long time.

If there’s one thing that we should learn about Google, it’s that you should always strive for something fresh. We should always have the initiative to grow and to find ways to innovate! If Google keeps this mantra, then, we might have to get ourselves ready for the future 😏
